Child and Family Support in the North East

Re-launched in 2010, the Child Brain Injury Trust in the North East aims to put families at the heart of all the work they do, so that they never feel alone, battling for their child without support, sound advice or sufficient information. Instead the Child Brain Injury Trust offers all these and more, including support at meetings with professionals, help finding the right local services for children and their families, and even training for professionals and teachers in your area about brain injury.

Our dedicated Regional Child and Family Support Co-ordinators provide emotional and practical support to families throughout the region. To discuss your support needs or to make a referral, please contact our Helpline on 0303 303 2248.

Miranda Barty-Taylor - Regional Child and Family Support Co-ordinator

Email: mirandabartytaylor@cbituk.org

Miranda joined the charity in March 2010 as a Regional Child and Family Support Co-ordinator, supporting families in the North East of England. She hails from Scotland but is enthusiastic about moving down to Newcastle where she will be based, providing information and support as well as developing a cohesive network of services within the North East.

She is committed to helping improve the level of care families affected by and children with an acquired brain injury receive, working alongside professionals in the health, education and social sectors.

Before joining the Child Brain Injury Trust Miranda completed a degree in Social and Political Science, lived in Australia for a year where she worked in schools, and also worked for Brain Tumour Action back in the UK.

When out of the office she can usually be found with her nose in a book, or else singing with her clarsach or guitar. She also enjoys writing, travelling and makes a mean gingerbread woman!
